CVCC Monthly Meeting

August 3rd, 2006

The monthly meeting was brought to order by Vice President Priestner in Marlin’s absence.

A motion to accept the July minutes was made by J. McKinney.  Seconded by J. Glatfelter. Motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report given by G. Miller.  A motion to accept the treasurer’s report made by J. McCarthy.  Seconded by R. Wolf.  Motion passed.

Governor’s Report given by J. Priestner, in Dave’s absence.  East Region points standing shows CVCC in third place in the region.  Many club members in the top 10 in all categories.

Anniversaries in August:   Flynn’s 43 years, Loser’s 33 years, Breen’s 34 years, Pesano’s 40 years, Gutshall’s 31 years, Wolf’s 37 years. 

Second Readings

            Tom and Gail Mitchell, 2006 Silver convertible.  Sponsored by the Priestner’s.  A motion was made by K. Priestner to accept Tom and Gail into the club.  Seconded by G. Miller. Motion passed.

First Readings

            Brian and Cristen Demnicki , 1978 Silver/Grey 25th Anniversary Coupe.

No Cruisers and waxers report.

Speed event report given by J. Priestner. 

            Double autox in Lancaster.  We had a good turnout and placed well. 

Charity Committee report given by Mike Hurley.

 Discussed how to donate approximately $13,000 from sale of give-away car.  Committee decided to recommend distribute to large organizations, ranked on previous donations given out.  Three levels of donation proposed include donations of $1000, $500 and $250.

Discussion was held by club members regarding changing donations to include the Highmark Caring Place.  Any donation made to this will be matched by Highmark. 

K. Stanley made a motion to change to donation earmarked for Spina Bifida of $250 to Highmark Caring Place, given we donate parade and homecoming $, as well as the golf outing money to Spina Bifida.  Seconded by G. Miller.  Motion passed. 

Motion by B. Grove, and seconded J. Paul to reduce Chip Miller Foundation by $250, to a $750 donation.  This would allow this additional $250 to be donated to the Caring Foundation, for a total of $500.  Motion passed.

G. Wolf made a motion to distribute the rest of the money as presented, with the revisions noted above. Seconded by H. Shank.  Motion passed unanimously.

Mike showed facsimile check we will post at club trailer at Carlisle to show what we have donated, and we will also try to do some check presentations with publicity in local newspapers.

Thanks to B. Patrick, S. Verber, M. Evans, S. Walter, both Witmer’s,  for help on the charity committee.

Recent Events:

Auto Detailing Clinic held at George and EJ house was a success.  Email from EJ read:  “George and I would like to thank everyone who attended the cleaning clinic.  It is our sincere hope that all found the clinic helpful.   A BIG thank you to E. Hare, M. Baldwin and D. Zullinger for their help.  Thanks also to M. Hare and J. Ludt for helping in the kitchen and providing some of the food;  M. Hare for baking the cakes and the Ludt’s for providing the Ice Cream.”

M. Evans expressed appreciation, especially from new members perspective, regarding all that was learned, and appreciation for the amount of time EJ and George spent in putting this together. 

SCCA AutoX at Pharo’s.  We received a lot of positive feedback from the people who attended this event, including comments about it being very well run.  This event raised $825 for our club.

Iggy Bop’s cruise-in Manchester.  Our club had about 7 cars show up for the car show.  Members enjoyed good food and ice cream, and music.  Thanks to the Spangler’s for inviting us.

Federal Credit Union- Our club had about 4 cars show up for this event.  Thanks to Marlin, L. Kiser, B. Grove, the Priestner’s for participating in this event.

Upcoming Club Events:

Dave and Sally’s Picnic August 19th.  Pool Opens at Noon.  Food served at 4:00. Bring a dish to share and chairs, as well as swimsuits and towels.  Meat and drinks provided. 

Corvettes at Carlisle

            Set Up of club trailer will be Tuesday August 22 @ 6:00.  Registration for Sunday’s autocross will be held at our club tent all weekend.  Remember to sign in at the tent each day you attend, to receive club points.   At the club trailer, all weekend, will be snacks and beverages for club members.  Bring a chair and visit for a while.

            EJ has again arranged for us to have reservations at the Marketcross Pub, for anyone who wishes to have supper at the conclusion of the parade Saturday night.  Anyone interested in joining this group should sign up with EJ.  She is collecting $5 for anyone wanting to attend, to be given back when you arrive at the restaurant. 

            M. Hurley took registration for the Saturday parade, run by the Downtown Carlisle Association.  Anyone wishing to participate can register with him.  Cost to participate is $30, which includes a t-shirt, dash plaque, and entry in the parade. Mike will have packets at club trailer Saturday with the shirt and info, for those entered to pick up.  To participate in the parade, you must be on the fairgrounds by 5:30 with you car.  Parade kicks off at 6:30.  Let Mike know if you are willing to help direct traffic.

Cruise to Huntington County scheduled for Sept. 10th, discussed by K. Stanley.  Info in newsletter and on website.  Money to him by Sept 1st. 

H&H Show Sept 16th the Hare’s chairing the event.  Pre-registrants only  will be put into drawings worth $150, $100, $50.  If you have any product samples that you would be able to donate, please bring them along.  Also, accepting donations for silent auction items.  There will be games, a DJ, food and ice cream truck.  Registration 8-11.  Awards at 3.   Anyone willing to help, see the Hare’s.  

Golf Tournament September 23.   B. Loser, M. Baldwin and P. Warner organizing.  Proceeds will go to Spina Bifida.   We need hole sponsors and donations for door prizes.  Currently we have 9 hole sponsors.  R. Wable and L. Loser were thankedfor their help getting sponsors.  Openings for 120 people to participate.  Only have 16 registered so far.  Get your registration in soon.  Club members can help by leaving flyers at work, in stores, etc.   We need club support to make this event a success. 

Fall Cruise to Ulysses PA Fall Foliage Festival and parade,   Sept 30, 2006.  G. Miller and B. Grove organizing this event.  They will put information in the next newsletter regarding details on a meeting place, location of overnight stay, etc. 

Jack read a thank you note from the Paden’s for planter sent to them, upon loss of his mother.

K. Priestner discussed updated Policies and Procedures.  Copies available at the meeting and on the website.  D. Warner made a motion to accept the updated Policies and Procedures.  R. Wable seconded.  Motion passed.

Priestner discussed club points.  Updated points were available at the meeting, as well as on the website.  Please let the Priestner’s know if there are any errors or deletions.  Also, please let them know if you attended the Mini Grand Prix Party, and/or Mini Grand Prix event  (jaxkar@suscom.net)

Karen Priestner announced a sanctioned Rallye to be held in Gettysburg Oct 28th entitled “Cannonball Run”.  Starting point will be the Country Inn and Suites at the Gettysburg Outlet Village.  Ending point is not yet confirmed, but the hope is to have it at the Appalacian Brewing Company in Gettysburg.  Route will be back country roads and part of the battlefield.  Should be a very fun event.  Anyone wishing to participate in the route, without answering the rallye questions will be welcome as well, though will not receive East Region points.

J. Priestner announced East Region High Speed event, Sept 30-Oct 1  “Spooktacular” at Summit Point in West Virginia.  Details on East Region website for anyone interested.

R. Hamilton announced a Classic and Collectible Car Show and Airplane Display at the  Carlisle Airport Sept 9th  Registration 9:00 am.  Open to public 10-4pm.  Proceeds go to the Cumberland Perry Special Needs and Mental Health Center.

CVCC Board Meeting

August 15th, 2006

The meeting was held at Scotties Beef & Reef in Mechanicsburg, starting 7:00 PM.

Treasurer Report:  We will transfer CD money to treasury for checks to be written for the selected charities.  We will keep $3500.00 in the CD.

We will also be giving Lance Miller the check for “Chip Miller Foundation” at Corvettes at Carlisle in the Auction Tent.

Ocean City Weekend coming up October 13, 14, & 15.  Keith said there are still rooms available at the Dunes.

Keith will have information in newsletter or at the meeting about the Cruise to Huntingdon County on Sept. 10th.  Meeting off exit 29, of I81 at the new Shippensburg Walmart.

R. Hamilton said there is a Classic Car Show again this year at the Carlisle Airport on September 9th at 9:00 A.M.  We were at this last year and had a good time.

Regarding the Golf Tournament, we have 9 holes sponsored so far.  Please come out for this event.  All proceeds go to Spina Bifida.

October 21, is the annual Rufe Corvette and Classics car show.  We need items for the auction.  Please either bring them to the show or see that B. Grove or Marlin gets those items you have for donation.

Karen is working on the Rallye for October 28th.

SEPTEMBER IS THE MONTH FOR NOMINATION OF NEW OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS.  WE WILL ALSO BE RECEIVING NOMINATIONS AT THE OCTOBER MEETING.  VOTING IS IN NOVEMBER.
