NOVEMBER --  MONTHLY BOARD MEETING

The Board meeting was held at the home of the Bowen's on November 18th and opened by the President.  Eight of the ten officers and board members were present.

Ken acknowledged the success of the Penn National Race Track night out under the coordination of Keith.  The Board recommends that it be repeated next year.

The Board commended Board members Marlin, Bill and Dave for their joint coordination of the successful Rufe Fun Show, Auction & Funkhana.  The Board recommends that next year's show earmark 100% of the proceeds to the Elks Club from the auction portion of the show only.  Much discussion followed as to the guidelines to follow in the future when designating proceeds from club events.  The Board also discussed the club's assets/expenses and options to increase income.

The upcoming bus trip to Wellsboro was discussed.  The bus company requires an additional $80 for insurance/clean up if the club decides to allow beer on the bus.  The Board recommends that this is not an expense that the club should absorb.

Dave gave a report on the 2004 Pocono Driving School.  The deposit for the track will be mailed on November 21st.  Dave will be mailing the brochures to individuals on his driving school mailing list by the end of November.  There will be no increase in cost for 2004.  Dave will look into getting a 'porta-potty' for the workers on the track infield.

Dave reported that the tentative date set for next year's H&H Show (Sept. 25th) has a conflict with Perry County Corvette Club's sanctioned event.  The H&H Show may have to move to an earlier date in September.

The Board reviewed the most recent list of club members who renewed their memberships for 2004.  We have 208 paid members, down from 229.  NCCC may increase their dues by $10 next year.

Carlisle has invited CVCC to participate in their Holiday Parade scheduled for Saturday, December 6th, at 10:00 AM.

Since 2005 marks the 40th anniversary of CVCC, the Board discussed the possibility of a car raffle (40th Anniversary Corvette).  More discussions to follow.

The Awards Banquet is scheduled for April 3rd.  Dave will compile the NCCC points to be added to CVCC point tabulation.  The East Region Awards ceremony will also be included in our Awards Banquet evening, as we have done in the past.

Dave reported that Gathersburg Corvette Club has invited CVCC to celebrate their club's 20th anniversary.  Invitation will be announced at monthly club meeting.

Gary suggested that a club member, who may be interested in the Treasurer position in the future, volunteer to learn this position's duties during the year 2004 (in the event that Gary chooses not to run in the future).  Although this is officially an "elected" position, someone with experience is recommended due to the complexity of the accounting tasks.

The Board discussed options for selecting a regular meeting place for the board meetings.  The Elks in Carlisle and the Ole Yale House in Mechanicsburg are being considered.

The next Board Meeting will be held at the Sunnyside Restaurant in Carlisle on December 16th, at 6:00 PM.  All current and new Board members are invited.  Spouses/guests are included.  Cost of dinners is the board members' responsibility.

With no additional discussion, the meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Acting CVCC Club Secretary
